Tasha and James’ The K Club wedding was full of personality, fun, and their own unique twists. Rather than traditional elements like bridal parties, long ceremonies, hours of posed photos, or endless speeches, the couple chose to focus on enjoying the day together and with their guests. Their ceremony was especially meaningful, as it was officiated by Tasha’s mother Barbara, and included a pre-ceremony first look and private vows before the service. Speeches were kept short too, limited to just the two of them.
Their colour palette tied everything together: a classic base of black and white, accented with malachite-inspired emerald and forest greens, with natural pops of magenta, burnt orange, and gold. These hues not only complemented the lush surroundings of The K Club but also subtly reflected the Irish, Jamaican, and Grenadian flags, a meaningful nod to their heritages.
Photography by Kevin Kheffache captured every unforgettable moment of this stunning The K Club wedding, from intimate vows to the vibrant reception details. If you’re looking for real couple inspiration on how to have a wedding day that’s truly your own, this is the one.

Let’s start by getting to know this gorgeous pair a little better! James, originally from Donegal and Birmingham, and Tasha, from London, now call Islington home.

James and Tasha first met online, bonding over their shared love of Peep Show and Archer quotes. “After a few false starts, we finally met up at a Halloween house party,” Tasha says, “and our first real date ended up being an impromptu trip to Dublin, where we went to Shanahan’s on the Green.” Nearly ten years later, the pair now live together in London with their “darling boy,” Bailey.

The proposal was delightfully unconventional — and perfectly them. The couple were due to head off on a bucket-list trip to Tromsø, Norway, to see the Northern Lights, so Tasha had a feeling “something was probably coming.” But knowing that she might be expecting it, James decided to turn the whole thing on its head. “He made it his mission to throw me off the scent completely,” Tasha laughs. “At one point, he even woke me up late at night with the infamous words, ‘we need to talk’ — which obviously worked gangbusters.”

When the moment finally came, it was in the most unexpected way: late at night, in their kitchen, with Tasha still in her pyjamas. “It was such a 180 — going from being annoyed to overwhelmed and hysterically laughing,” she says. “It ended up being so intimate, heartfelt, and completely true to us as a couple.”

Because they were planning their wedding from overseas, Tasha and James knew organisation would be key. “We had to get our ducks in a row early on,” Tasha says. To make sure they were aligned, the couple started with a priorities quiz — rating everything from music and food to décor, entertainment, and stationery on a scale of 1–10. “It sounds simple, but it was invaluable,” she explains. “It really helped us get on the same page when setting the budget and making decisions — and gave us something to refer back to when we got into the deep, dark weeds of wedding planning!”

From the beginning, they were set on two main goals: focusing on guest experience and keeping things as relaxed as possible. To make this happen, they decided to skip certain traditional elements that didn’t feel essential to them. No bridal parties, long ceremonies, hours of posed photos, or endless speeches. Instead, they chose to spend that time enjoying the day together and with their guests. They exchanged private vows before the ceremony, did a first look to share an intimate moment together, and limited speeches to just the two of them.

Sustainability was another big focus. The couple were determined to be as zero-waste as possible, renting wherever they could, buying only items that could be resold or kept, and ensuring all printed materials were recyclable. “Wherever possible, we used digital versions — from invites to seating plans,” says Tasha. “Even our confetti cannons were water-soluble, so they wouldn’t harm the gardens.”

When it came to finding the perfect venue, The K Club stole their hearts instantly. “We must have emailed, googled, and searched every castle and venue in and around Dublin,” Tasha says, “but it was love at first sight when we saw The K Club. The dramatic aisle alone sold it.”

With its rich history, timeless glamour, and breathtaking setting, The K Club ticked every box. “It fit our aesthetic perfectly,” they share. “And as a huge golf fan, James was over the moon to be able to play the course.” Elegant, romantic, and full of character, it was the ideal backdrop for the start of their forever.

Tasha and James describe their wedding vibe as “Laid-back Luxe.” They chose four guiding words Luxury, Alchemy, Edge, and Romance to shape every detail. The result was a celebration that felt refined and glamorous, full of black-tie elegance and beautiful surroundings, yet with a warmth and ease that made it feel effortless like an elevated evening spent with all their favourite people.

The couple’s wedding aesthetic was truly “vibe-led,” drawing inspiration from the music, movies, and memories they love most. “We wanted each part of the day to have its own distinct feel,” says Tasha.

For the ceremony, the goal was "light, elegant, and refined" with all the music performed as string versions of beloved movie and video game themes. Dinner took a moodier, more luxurious turn. “We set the tone by walking in to Rags to Riches from Goodfellas, surrounded by candlelight, with Rat Pack and jazz standards playing in the background,” they share. As for the party, they wanted it to feel like a full experience and The Event Band delivered exactly that.

Their colour palette tied everything together a classic base of black and white, accented with malachite-inspired emerald and forest greens, and natural pops of magenta, burnt orange, and gold. These hues not only complemented the lush surroundings of The K Club but also subtly reflected the colours of the Irish, Jamaican, and Grenadian flags, a beautiful nod to their heritages.

The florals by Vintage Violet florist were designed to enhance rather than dominate. “We didn’t want them to be ‘the feature,’” Tasha explains. “They were there to complement the venue, rooms, and tablescapes — paired with rooms filled with candlelight to create warmth and atmosphere.”

On 2nd September, Tasha and James said their vows outdoors at The K Club, in front of 110 guests, with the ceremony officiated by the bride’s mother, Barbara Sutherland.

Tasha’s entrance was nothing short of showstopping. “It was insane! My dress sparkled in the sunlight like Ariel at the end of The Little Mermaid,” she recalls, and she was walked down the aisle by her brothers and her dad, creating a magical and unforgettable start to their day.

"My mother came out of retirement to perform a bespoke and heartfelt ceremony for us including personal vows for us to say to each other," the bride tells. She even surprised Tasha by weaving in a line from one of their favourite romance novels, a book they bonded over when Tasha was a teenager, a moment that caught her completely off guard in the best way.

Rather than a traditional itinerary or programme, Tasha and James created a keepsake wedding newspaper, complete with interviews with the couple, fun facts, the day’s events, and even a playful “Letter from the Editor” penned by their dog, Bailey, who sadly couldn’t join the celebrations.

The couple then walked out to a string version of Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine,” James’ favourite band, and closed the reception with an emotional singalong to “Don’t Look Back in Anger”, bookending the day with music that was both personal and unforgettable.

Guests were treated to a confetti cannon send-off after the ceremony and got to pre-game the reception with a Baby Guinness at the “shot stop” on the way to the party, setting the tone for a fun and unforgettable evening.

Tasha looked effortlessly elegant in a beaded Sima Couture gown from Love Bridal in Crystal Palace, London, which sparkled beautifully as she moved. She paired her dress with Jimmy Choo heels for the ceremony before switching into Saint Laurent trainers later in the evening, the perfect blend of glamour and comfort.

Her accessories were timeless and meaningful, including a veil that’s a treasured family heirloom, worn by every bride in her family so far, Carat London earrings, and a chic Zara evening bag. She finished her look with a spritz of her signature Tom Ford perfume and a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses for that effortlessly cool touch.

James looked effortlessly sharp in a tailored Oliver Brown suit, with a separate evening jacket also by Oliver Brown, paired with crisp Louis Copeland shirts. He wore classic Loake shoes for the ceremony before changing into LMNTS trainers for a more relaxed evening vibe.

His accessories were sleek and refined, including a Rolex watch, a spritz of Le Labo cologne, and Tom Ford sunglasses to complete the look.

While they had been worried about rain, the couple was treated to gorgeous blue skies and warm weather all day, a welcome surprise as the first day of the notorious back-to-school season unfolded.

At the reception, Tasha and James infused personal touches and playful details throughout. Guests left messages in an audio guestbook instead of a traditional book, while a signature scent diffused through the room, creating lasting memories of the day. Music was equally curated, with a guest playlist that included everything they loved.

Practical details were also considered, including a digital seating plan so everyone could easily see where they were sitting. Guests were entertained by magician Jamie Skelton, whose unbelievable tricks kept everyone amazed. And while the wedding was mostly child-free, the little ones were not forgotten — kids’ activity packs, complete with a photo treasure hunt and disposable cameras, kept them engaged and resulted in some of the funniest, most candid snapshots of the day.

For their first dance, Tasha and James swayed to Baby I’m Yours by Arctic Monkeys.

When asked what advice they’d give to other couples, Tasha and James spoke about finding the delicate balance between “It’s just one day” and “It’s just ONE day.”

“Saying ‘it’s just one day’ can sound negative,” Tasha explains, “but we found remembering that it literally is just one day can take the pressure off. You will have many more incredible days together, so don’t feel like you must spend every penny or try to make everything perfect. Plan, prepare, and practice, but don’t sweat the small stuff. In the end, it’s just one day.”

They add, “But also remember, it’s also just ONE day. A tiny 24 hours that is truly all about you and your love. So, focus on that! Make it what you want, focus on your priorities, and go nuts where you can! It’s just ONE day, after all!”

“It’s a tricky balance,” they conclude, “but it’s worth remembering when you get into the weeds of it all.”

After their gorgeous The K Club wedding, Tasha and James set off on a Central and South American adventure, exploring Peru, Panama, and Colombia.
