This intimate city wedding will make your heart sing, there's no two ways about it. Dublin's fair city formed the vibrant backdrop for the refined and incredibly romantic wedding of Jane and David. They tied the knot in the elegant City Assembly House which was followed up with a family-style dinner at The Fumbally, which is so rustic and romantic. This city celebration had a country twist thanks to the breathtaking wildflowers, along with superbly sleek bridal style, chic DIY stationery, and a truly gorgeous photoshoot through the streets of Dublin. With Conor Brennan Photography behind the lens, you know you're in for a treat with absolutely divine photos too. Enjoy!

So let's find out more about our lovely couple before we uncover the dreamy details of their special day. Jane is from Tipperary and David is from Kerry and after meeting on a dating app they had their first date in Dublin during lockdown. They grabbed a hot chocolate from outside Butler's on Grafton Street and then went for a sweet stroll around the city finishing in Dublin Castle gardens.

David popped the question at Christmas and continued their festive tradition to do so. "We always have a Christmas dinner together in Dublin the week before we go home for the holidays. After the dinner we sit under the Christmas tree and give each other our Christmas presents. When David gave me my gifts, he gave one additional present which was the ring. We went away on holidays a short while later and it was there that we planned the wedding deciding that we wanted a small wedding with approximately 50 people. While on the holiday we agreed on our venue and ceremony and got married five months later in May."

The bride was a vision of refined elegance in her silk Reformation gown which she styled with shoes from Folkster and Missoma jewellery. With her hair worn in a chic bun with wavy bangs, she opted for a radiant makeup look with a rich brown smokey eye and she carried a loose and lush wildflower bouquet.

The couple live in Stoneybatter in Dublin and their celebrations began with their mini-moon in Portugal. They jetted off to Faro before the wedding for five nights. "We stayed in a beautiful house in a tiny village and spent our days hiking, swimming and eating good food. This was perfect because we were able to relax and unwind before the wedding. We came back to Ireland three days before the wedding. The break allowed us to fully unwind after finishing up work and spend some time together before coming home to finish off the last few wedding preparations. It was the perfect pre-wedding break."

They exchanged vows in the elegant surrounds of the Knight of Glin exhibition room at City Assembly House. "David had been part of an architecture exhibition there years before and was very impressed with the simple beauty of the room."

Jane chose a processional song that was very special to them, When We’re Older by James Blake. "The lyrics are beautiful. The bride‘s mother also read a poem and afterwards gave a speech on how it applies to the bride and groom which was very touching."

They reflect on tying the knot in the sophisticated and stunning space, "The fact that it’s in the middle of the city yet unknown to many people made it feel like a secret. We loved the intimacy of the circular seating arrangement and the glass dome above the center of the room was stunning."

When it came to the vibe of their celebration, "although we are both from the countryside, most of our life together has been in Dublin so we wanted to recognise that and factor aspects of our everyday lives into the day."

The newlyweds took a very special detour to celebrate as they went for a quiet glass of wine at Loose Cannon on Drury Street which is a favourite spot of theirs on Friday evenings.

"Our photographer Conor Brennan was great in factoring the city into our wedding photographs. We walked around the city to get photos on streets that we pass every day, in front of murals that we love and finishing in Dublin Castle gardens in the exact bench where we sat on our first date."

Getting the vibe just right for their reception dinner was the main focus when it came to planning and good food and wine were number one on our priority list. "We love cooking and gathering people around a table for long conversations, so the hope was to create a family style dinner for our wedding party. The Fumbally achieved this perfectly with long tables which allowed conversation to flow. We had a five-course dinner with great wine."

They had been going to the cafe separately and together for years and they adored the comfortable and homely atmosphere and the scrumptious food. "So we knew they would do a great job creating the wedding dinner experience we visioned. We’ve seen events in their long room and adore the aesthetics of the room, the exposed brick work, wooden beams and whitewashed walls. The room is usually decorated with lots of candles and flowers and it was perfect."

The wildflower arrangements created by The Garden in Powerscourt Townhouse led the reception styling and the couple designed their chic stationery themselves.

Their celebration included a drinks reception in the loft upstairs, "this room felt like a sitting room with couches and really created a perfect at home experience."

As for wedding planning advice, the couple say not to worry about what other people expect. "Make the day exactly the way you want it to be, also to remember not to get overwhelmed by the amount of detail and decisions to be made, we planned our wedding in just a few months, and looking back, it was all perfect; exactly the day we imagined."

Their food was a mouthwatering hit with their guests and their sleek wedding cake was pretty-as-punch too.

For Jane and David it was the people who made their wedding day so special. "We had 50 people there and looking around at everyone mixing and laughing was beautiful."

One of the true highlights of the reception was when Jane's grandmother got up with two family members to serenade David with the song Getting to Know You. "It was totally unexpected and very enjoyable." They picked Thailand as their honeymoon destination. How dreamy!

A very special thank you to Jane, David and Conor Brennan Photography for sharing today's absolutely wonderful city wedding with One Fab Day!
