A Picture-Perfect Rooftop Wedding: Joy & András' Irish-Hungarian Celebration

Featuring the most epic ceremony backdrop!

Intimate, chic, and overflowing with steal-worthy details, Joy & András stylish rooftop wedding at Párisi Udvar Hotel, Budapest is one for the books. Each perfectly pin-worthy moment designed seems to be more beautiful than the next! From the couples’ jaw-droppingly gorgeous rooftop wedding ceremony overlooking the city, to the abundance of dreamy florals and thoughtful details, the pair created an unforgettable experience for themselves and their loved ones. It all makes for one seriously stunning set of photos captured wonderfully by Love Forever Wedding.

Before we get stuck into this dreamy day, let's get to know our lovely couple a little better first, shall we? Bride Joy hails from Ireland while groom András is from Hungary. They are currently based in Greystones, Co. Wicklow. The couple first met while working in the Ritz Carlton Hotel (now Powerscourt Hotel), in Enniskerry. Love blossomed between the pair and they have been together now for over then years.

The proposal happened while the couple were at home, in the sweetest way. Bride Joy fills us in, "Andras organised the most perfect proposal for me. He knew I didn't want anything public, I couldn't cope with the embarrassment. He surprised me at the home we bought together, with rose petals, my favourite song playing and photographs of us hanging everywhere. He had a speech all prepared, but he was so overcome that he said ''forget the speech, I'm just going to ask you...will you marry me", I was shaking and responded YES, YES, YES (three times!). He then surprised me again with a trip away to the hotel where we first met."

Once engaged the pair began planning, they set their sights on a wedding in András home country of Hungary. With a summer wedding vision and guest list of 60 guests they simply wanted "to celebrate and have a great time with our closest friends and family." The bride adds, "Over half the guests were travelling from Ireland so our priority was to ensure everything was easy and relaxed, and we as a couple could enjoy each moment of the day with our guests. It was also very important we had elements of each of our cultures, which we feel we achieved."

Joy's wedding day began with a serene morning spent with her bridesmaids, complete with champagne toasts and joyful laughter.

András prepared for the big day surrounded by his groomsmen, wearing a stylish Moss Bros beige suit that perfectly matched Joy’s sophisticated style.

And the perfect venue for their Hungary nuptials? The luxurious Párisi Udvar Hotel in Budapest. When asked what made it 'the one' for them, the couple say, " Once we walked into the venue we were in complete awe, the hotel was so stunning, and unlike anything we had seen before. It was like travelling back in time, the architecture was incredible. They had a rooftop overlooking Budapest which was perfect for our ceremony, and the area for our reception was truly breathtaking."

Joy's chic and sleek wedding dress was found at Truly Bridal in Co. Kildare and was a Paloma Blanca design. Bridal accessories from One Dame Lane completed her wedding day look.

Her bridesmaids dazzled in sage green dresses which Joy sourced on Azazie, while the flower girl looked adorable in a sweet find from Next.

What a ceremony spot! The couple's ceremony took place on the rooftop terrace of the hotel’s Presidential Suite. The space was adorned with elegant white floral arrangements, creating a stunning backdrop.

Joy walked up the aisle to her beloved András to If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys.

András's Sister Erika read a traditional Hungarian poem and then, surrounded by their loved ones, Joy and András exchanged vows and wedding rings from Dublin-based jewellers Bespoke Diamonds before sealing their love with a movie-worthy kiss.

Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a delightful cocktail hour with signature drinks and great views of the Nation’s Capitol. The bartender expertly mixed the cocktails, setting the tone for the evening’s celebrations.

At the reception guests were greeted with tables meticulously decorated with white floral centerpieces, green glassware and napkins, taper candles and elegant gold cutlery. "We kept the decor elegant and in keeping with the ornate surroundings. The colours were white and green, a nod to Ireland."

"We loved being able to tie in elements of both countries, from the traditional Hungarian dancing, to the Irish tradition of the speeches, it felt like a union of not only two families but two cultures."

Summing up their day, the couple say it was," our dream day, our wedding planner Catherine organised everything so perfectly. It was unique, stylish and so beautiful."

The couple took to the floor as newlyweds to Never Too Much by Luther Vandross. Just as the dance concluded, the pair were joined by their loved ones to dance the night away.

After planning such an epic destination wedding the couple have this advice to other couples planning their day, "If you are having an abroad wedding, invest in a wedding planner. Someone who is based in the area and is highly experienced. Catherine at Dream Wedding Budapest took all of our stress away, from sourcing reliable vendors, to the detailed advice and execution, we didn't have to worry, we knew everything would be perfect for us." The couple are currently planning their honeymoon to South Africa next year.
