90s & 00s-Inspired Glam Meets Modern Fairytale: Martyna & Tiarnach’s Dromoland Castle Wedding

Featuring bagpipes on arrival and a jaw-dropping bespoke bridal look

Martyna and Tiarnach’s wedding at Dromoland Castle was a stunning blend of personal connection, modern styling, and fairytale romance. With Martyna’s family having a special connection to Dromoland Castle, the couple’s day was filled with meaningful touches and unforgettable moments from the start. A jaw-dropping bespoke bridal look, a black-tie reception with cocktails, piano, and a Sinatra set from the band ensured elegance and fun, while guests were welcomed by the stirring sound of bagpipes. Their 90s and 00s-inspired aesthetic—drawing on classic Vera Wang style and the iconic wedding of David and Victoria Beckham—shone through in the styling, the nostalgic Lambeth cake, and florals featuring anthuriums and grapes, lovingly sourced from the bride’s mother’s store.

Artfully captured by Love Story by Anouska Proetta Brandon, and accompanied by video from Ivory Films (which we’ll be sharing very soon), this Dromoland Castle wedding is a masterclass in marrying timeless glamour with personal, modern touches.

Bride Martyna was born in Poland and has lived in Ireland for over 20 years, while Groom Tiarnach hails from Monaghan. The couple have spent many years living and working in Dublin and recently bought their first home together in Bray. The pair first crossed paths at The Jar on Camden Street. Tiarnach caught Martyna’s attention by sharing photos from his holidays in Donegal, sweeping her off her feet. The very next day, he collected her from the National Gallery—flip flops and all—for a dinner date at FX Buckley, a gesture Martyna thought was pretty cool at the time!

Dates turned to love, and love turned into a proposal when Tiarnach asked Martyna to marry him on Doughmore Beach in Doonbeg during a quiet morning walk. “It was very private and romantic, and as my mum lives nearby, we can now return to our special place whenever we visit,” the bride says.

Tiarnach surprised Martyna by choosing the perfect ring entirely on his own, including the correct size (thanks to the team at Appleby!). The proposal coincided with the Doonbeg Jazz Festival weekend, making it even more memorable. The day began with a champagne breakfast with Martyna’s mum, followed by a stay at Doonbeg Golf Resort, and ended with dancing the night away at one of their favourite local spots, Tubridy’s Bar and Restaurant.

Once engaged, the couple set about planning their dream day. From the very beginning, their focus was on staying together throughout the celebrations and dancing until the very end of the night. Equally important was ensuring their family and friends had an unforgettable experience, which included carefully curating the menu with the Dromoland Castle team. They also prioritized booking the perfect band and capturing the day in beautiful photos and video, creating memories to cherish for years to come.

"We wanted something timeless, classic and elegant," Martyna tells. "It was a black tie with cocktails and piano at the reception, with bagpipes on arrival, and Sinatra from the band later. The day was just so special, full of laughter, happy tears and dancing with our family and friends. Amazing weather was just the icing on the wedding cake."

The couple’s connection to Dromoland Castle ran deep, as Martyna’s family used to live on the grounds, making the venue especially close to their hearts. Beyond this personal connection, the fairytale Irish castle quickly became their first choice for many other reasons. The bride explained, “The service in the Castle is unparalleled, the food and drinks are delicious, and the entire place is just full of character and history. Dromoland’s wedding planner Margaret and the entire team were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, which made everything so much easier for us.”

Martyna and Tiarnach said “I do” on 15 March 2025 in front of 100 guests at the beautiful Ennis Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Ennis, Co. Clare.

The couple loved every moment of the ceremony, making it hard to pick a single favourite element. Highlights included the classic reading from the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, beautifully delivered by the bride’s sister, heartfelt prayers and reflections from their closest friends, a moving rendition of Grace sung by Tiarnach’s sister and her partner, and the elegant Canon in D performed by a friend as the bride made her entrance.

The bride’s show-stopping wedding look was a masterclass in bridal styling and bespoke design. The corset and sleeves were created by Dublin-based designer Darla Haute Couture which she sourced at The One by Sinead Corcoran. Paired with a bespoke flowing skirt from Anne Gregory Bridal in Wicklow, the ensemble perfectly balanced structure and romance. Her veil, also from The One by Sinead Corcoran, added a soft, ethereal finish.

Accessories completed the look with understated luxury: Valentino bridal platforms, a pearl necklace from Tiffany & Co. via Brown Thomas Dublin, and a delicate Jennifer Behr headband from MyTheresa.

The groom looked effortlessly sharp in a tailored Canali suit from Brown Thomas, Dublin, paired with sleek Christian Louboutin shoes. His ensemble was perfectly accessorised with a Gucci bow tie and Ferragamo cufflinks, also from Brown Thomas, adding touches of timeless elegance.

The bride's maid of honour complemented the sophisticated style in a chic pink Solace London dress, sourced via MyTheresa, while the groomsmen opted for their own suits, giving the wedding party a stylish yet relaxed feel.

Can we take a moment to appreciate this show-stopping mother-of-the-bride look? Martyna's mom wore a stunning monochrome Solace London dress from Mytheresa, paired with a chic hat from Isobel Boutique in Adare, Co. Limerick. Accessories included Jimmy Choo shoes and a Celine bag, perfectly finishing a modern MOB look full of elegance and style.

When asked what inspired their wedding aesthetic, the couple cited the 90s and 2000s, a classic Vera Wang style, and the iconic wedding of David and Victoria Beckham. “Anthuriums, grapes, and my bouquet were my ideas,” the bride explains. “Anthuriums were the main flowers at my parents’ wedding, so I really wanted them to be front and centre at mine too."

The reception at Dromoland Castle was nothing short of a modern fairytale. Towering candelabras were adorned with lush hydrangea, rose, and anthurium arrangements, while bunches of grapes were artfully displayed below, creating a scene reminiscent of a fine art painting. “Luis from Flowers by Luis brought the arrangements to life with hydrangeas and white and blush pink roses. The grapes were kindly supplied by my mum’s store, Shannon Pantry in Shannon Shopping Centre, and were enjoyed by all after dinner. I wanted to make sure our family store was included in the wedding in some way,” the bride shared.

The couple’s wedding featured a 90s-style Lambeth cake, a sweet nod to their love of that era.

When asked what made the day truly special and personal, the bride fondly reflects on the thoughtful touches and unique elements that made their wedding unforgettable. "A traditional blessing from my mum before I left, my sister being my only bridesmaid, the aisle music played by our friend, the performance by Tiarnach’s sister and her partner at the ceremony, my grandparents flying in for the wedding, sitting on our own during the dinner which allowed us to take a breath and to be together, the amazing weather, dancing until the venue closed, Tiarnach’s gift delivered in the morning of the wedding which was a photo album of our best moments and a Tiffany bracelet, letters we wrote to each other on the day of the wedding."

For their first dance, the couple chose the timeless classic Unchained Melody.

When asked what advice they would give to other couples planning their wedding, the bride suggests moving the start time up by an hour to allow for a smoother flow, and reminds couples to keep calm and stay together throughout the day. "It goes incredibly fast but sitting on our own really settled us and gave us time to reflect together."

After celebrating Day 2 of their wedding in Doonbeg with family and friends, the couple escaped on St. Patrick’s Day to the newly renovated Armada House in Spanish Point for a minimoon. "The stay was truly special and gave us so much privacy for reflection after the wedding. We truly chose the best of Clare for our special three days! For our honeymoon, we went to Maldives which was just amazing. I would definitely recommend it. Usually, we are trying to fit in the adventure element but we truly appreciated the serenity of the paradise island straight after the wedding."
