New Zealand-based couple Nicola and Will whisked their loved ones away to the ruggedly beautiful northwest coast of Donegal for their wedding at the wildly romantic Corcreggan Mill. The couple wanted their wedding weekend to feel like a holiday for everyone and it's a celebration their loved ones will always cherish.
It was a true reflection of community, friendship and love, as their family and friends all helped to bring their dream day to life. Beautifully captured by Lisa McConalogue, this sensational summer wedding included boho bridal style, sweet dried flowers, a breathtakingly scenic ceremony, and decor including whimsical bows and sweet seashells. It was a magical bash not to be missed.

Nicola is from Belfast and Will is from Auckland, New Zealand. They met in 2018 when Nicola had recently returned to Belfast from living in New Zealand and Australia for three years after university and Will had been living there after a stint in London. They met on Tinder, they matched that morning and met that night.

Will's elegant wedding look from Magee 1866 included a rustic brown tweed blazer.

Will popped the question in July 2023 in Tawharanui Regional Park in New Zealand.

Their family and friends all helped with the planning and styling, in fact Nicola's mother collected accessories for months. "Everyone mucked in to get the place looking amazing and the day couldn’t have gone any better. It was hard organising a wedding in Ireland from New Zealand and without the help of our loved ones it wouldn’t have been half the day it was."

Nicola was a breathtaking bohemian beauty! Her lace gown was styled magically with a floral crown and her own sandals which bore the sweetest message on the soles.

The bride reflects more on the aesthetic, "We aren’t very matchy-matchy people so the aesthetic was very fluid – bridesmaids and groomsmen wore their own clothes and what they felt good in, no real colour schemes – amazing how it all turned out!"

Wedding bouquet charms are a special way to remember a loved one on your special day. While he couldn't be with her on the day, Nicola ensured her beloved father was with her every step of the way.

Single stem bouquets are blooming in popularity and Nicola's bridesmaids carried sunflowers tied with lace ribbons.

The bride's friend Janet Martin did her makeup while Ciara of C.M.C Mobile Hairdressing was behind her flowing curled hairstyle.

We adore how the wedding party walked to the ceremony together!

Corcreggan Mill is truly a nature lover's dream. With vistas of beautiful beaches and majestic mountains, it formed a stunningly scenic backdrop to their celebrations.

Nicola walked down to Wild Mountain Thyme played by the talented trio of Irish trad players, LÃofa.

The bride's brother Neil officiated their ceremony and 85 of their nearest and dearest joined them for their magical June celebration. "The sheer effort everyone made to help out and bring it all together was honestly mindblowing and incredibly humbling," she reminisces.

They wanted to remove all the stresses of travel and logistics so they booked out their venue for three days. "Mostly everyone stayed on site – we wanted it to be relaxed, inclusive and most of all wanted to ensure we had ample quality time to spend with our favourite people and really soak it all in. We haven’t been home for a few years and were returning to Ireland with a son for all of our friends and family to meet for the first time – so wanted it to feel like we were all there to enjoy a full weekend together. We wanted to include those with families to bring the kids along too – it was amazing and so special to have all your friends kids playing together!"

From delicate sheer bows in their ceremony decor to seashells dotting the tables for their reception, the decor was effortless and so chic.

It was the versatility of the venue that made it 'the one' as they could utilise a variety of different spaces to make their celebration completely their own. "The ceremony area was up overlooking the most unbelievable Irish landscape, the drinks reception in the bell tent area, the lawn allowed room to hangout and play games and then the dining space with built in food service truck was perfect." The fact that nearly all their guests could stay on site was also a real selling point.

As for wedding planning advice she reflects, "The weeks leading into the day become completely non-important once the day finally gets there – the adrenaline and love you feel on the day completely overshadows any worry you ever had so just surrender to the day and enjoy every second."

The newlyweds and their loved ones danced the night away in the rain together, what an unforgettable way to end their day of magic.

While the couple has no plans as of yet for the honeymoon as the trip back to Ireland was huge in itself they are hoping to get a quiet little week away by the end of the year with their son to take a breath!

Congratulations Nicola and Will. A very special thank you to our fabulous couple and Lisa McConalogue for allowing us to share this dreamy Donegal wedding on One Fab Day!
