It doesn't get more timeless than today's real wedding. London-based couple Megan and Ryan celebrated their love with a black tie fete at Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow that exuded elegance in every way. Playing out on a sun-kissed autumn day, their wedding featured a sophisticated white, green and gold colour scheme, sleek style, pops of champagne, absolutely gorgeous personal touches (we know you'll swoon when you hear about the wedding car), and an darling kitschy cake. Stephen Walker was on hand to capture every unforgettable moment, we know you'll fall head over heels with their celebration of love.

Megan is from Dublin and she grew up in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow, and she moved to London in 2015. Ryan is from the UK from Harpenden in Hertforshire and their love story began in 2021 when they met through work. They are both freelancers in the TV industry and the stars aligned to see them working on the same show together in London.

Megan tells us about their engagement, "Ryan had planned for us to go up Bray Head to watch the sunrise on a cold morning in November. Bray is where my family are from, and where my late granny had told Ryan about a funny story and happy memories she had so he thought that would be a special place to do it. He loves photography and flying his drone and it's not the first time he’s dragged me out of bed to watch a sunrise, so I thought nothing of it. Although I was initially moaning about being cold and tired whilst we were trying to climb up the hill in darkness! It turned out to be a really amazing clear day, with a beautiful sunrise, and the best surprise ever!"

Getting ready at the Powerscourt Hotel with the bridal party and family was a real highlight. "Having drinks on the balcony overlooking such an incredible view and drinking champagne was such a great start to the day! Megan's hair and make up artists were incredible, they brought a great energy to the whole morning they were so professional to ensure the large bridal party was ready on time, but were also so relaxed and fun! We loved just sitting in our PJs drinking champagne!"

The grooms party opted for slicker-than-slick black tuxes.

Also making us swoon on the style front was the adorable flower girl ensemble which was a floral applique Next dress paired with sparkly glitter shoes.

As for the priorities for their wedding, they wanted their celebration to feel very personal to them. They wanted to ensure that their loved ones had a wonderful time and that influenced everything from the style to the music and the food and drink.

Megan and her father travelled in a very special way by using his old car that he has had since the 80s that is lovingly nicknamed Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. "It was the same car that my dad collected me from in the hospital the day I was born so he thought it would be fitting for the next big milestone!"

Their ceremony was intimate and relaxed with plenty of humour throughout. "Our celebrant Fionnuala was amazing and made everything so personalised. We had some of our closest friends and family do readings and we chose a singer and string quartet to do some of our favourite songs such as Dreams by The Cranberries, At Last, Birds of a Feather and Kiss Me."

Megan and Ryan tied the knot in October on an unexpectedly warm and sunny day which made their wedding photos even more phenomenal.

Their sun-kissed confetti moment was just so unbelievably dreamy.

The bride served up a magical masterclass in minimalism with her sleek satin Chosen by Kyha off the shoulder gown with a scooped neck corset and a draped, fit and flare skirt. She accessorised with a pair of iconic bridal heels by Loeffler Randall, pearl earrings and a cathedral veil.

Ryan and all his friends adore Guinness, so it was important that it was readily available at the drinks reception. "Ryan made a print design of what he wanted on the pints. We hired in a company to put this design on the pints for the drink reception but they could also use our guests personal photos to print the picture of what they wanted on the pints. Which was a big hit!"

The elegant champagne satin halterneck bridesmaids dresses were from Rewritten and they carried white playa blanca rose bouquets.

Megan shares insight into how they crafted their wedding aesthetic, "The venue is very classic, it really didn’t need much decoration. It was autumn so we went for a black tie theme with a white, green and gold colour scheme throughout."

They had a fabulous ice breaker idea for their reception as they personalised the table place names for their guests with a fun description of them and a private joke underneath.

The couple always knew that they wanted to get married in Ireland. Given that Megan grew up in Enniskerry she always saw Powerscourt as an ideal wedding venue. She explains. "It’s about a 10-minute drive from my family home I grew up in, so just having that beautiful backdrop of the Sugarloaf mountain, and the views of the gardens it really has the wow factor. The large majority of our wedding guests and half our wedding party were from the UK and some of them had never been to Ireland before so it seemed like the perfect place to showcase Ireland."

Their reception included a stunning Lambeth buttercream wedding cake adorned with cherries and a first dance to Late Night Talking by Harry Styles.

She reflects on how the wedding venue was just so perfect for their special day, "The location is just beautiful and it was really nice that our guests could stay locally in Enniskerry village, and it's not far from Dublin which is really convenient for travel. We stayed in Powerscourt Hotel with the wedding party and that was an amazing experience."

The bride shares the following sage advice for couples planning their big day, "I would say prioritise the things you normally enjoy at a wedding and put more focus on that whether it’s the food or the music and the dancing. It's always really nice when you see those special touches that reflects what the couple like and value. The day goes so quickly so just make sure you plan it out so you maximise spending it how you want to. We were so happy with our photographer and videographer, they were incredible and we are so glad we have all of these memories documented to look back on forever."

They chose the Maldives as their honeymoon destination. "We went a few days after the wedding for two weeks and it was the best decision we ever made! It was so relaxing after the build up to the wedding."

Didn't we tell you? Megan and Ryan's Wicklow wedding was absolutely brimming with steal-worthy ideas. A very special thank you to Stephen Walker for sharing the breathtaking imagery with us!
