Wedding Newspapers and Vintage Cakes: Megan & Ben's "Classic Country Chic" Celebration

This stunning autumn wedding was brimming with wow flowers!

Megan and Ben's Galway wedding will sweep you off your feet. 180 of their loved ones joined them for their classic celebration with a country chic twist. Their October fete included a beautiful church ceremony followed by an uber-stylish reception at the Connemara Sands Hotel. With breathtaking bridal style, a fabulous free-form bridal bouquet, bridesmaids in floral gowns, lush foliage aplenty, the chicest wedding newspapers, and Lambeth wedding cakes, there is so much stunning inspiration to look forward to. All of the beauty and magic was captured with gorgeous candid-style imagery by Victoria McGarry. Let's get going!

Our lovely couple is from Dublin, Megan is from Blackrock while Ben is from Stillorgan. They live in Blackrock and Megan tell us they met the ‘old fashioned way', on a night out in a bar! "We were both on nights out with respective friends and Ben chatted me up, full cheesy chat up line included, and got my number."

Ben concocted the sweetest rouse when it came to the proposal. "Ben said we were meeting his grandmother and mum for dinner up in Powerscourt but then the day before spun a story about how we could also stay the night. I was slightly suspicious but after arriving, going for a walk, a coffee, sitting around chatting, I figured nothing was happening, especially when he started watching football on his iPad, too chill. However, I went to the bathroom to get ready to go down for drinks, burst the zip on my jeans and was calling out for him to help me fix them. He was waiting outside the bathroom door in our hotel room on one knee!"

If you're into those special little details that'll make all the difference on your wedding day, then you should take a leaf out of Megan's book with a wedding newspaper! Their gorgeous newspaper was created by the bride's dad who has had a printing company for the past 35 years.

Ben and his groomsmen looked absolutely smashing opting for timeless black tuxes.

We can't get over the breathtaking bride! She exuded modern romance in her fairytale ballgown wedding dress from Love Ellie Bridal with a statement sculpted bodice which she accessorised with a lace-trimmed cathedral veil, bridal gloves with bows by Daily Sleeper, Jimmy Choo earrings and heels, and an Anya Hindmarch bag.

Megan simply couldn't wait to get down the aisle to her future husband!

The couple tied the knot in the Church of the Holy Family in Ballyconneely which was transformed into a lush haven thanks to the floral force Carolyn Duggan of The Florist on the Hill. Beautiful floral pillars stood at the beginning of the aisle while verdant foliage was draped along the pews.

They included many of their most adored songs in their ceremony including Swear It All Over Again by Westlife and Beautiful Crazy by Luke Combs.

Megan's leading ladies wowed in oversized floral print Karen Millen dresses with a black bow straps which were complemented with black heels by ASOS.

We're so in love with the bouquets! The bridesmaids carried colourful bunches including anthurium, daisies and hydrangeas and orchids played a starring role in the bride's wow-factor free-form bouquet.

The bride always knew she wanted to get married Ballyconneely, it holds a very special place in her heart - there was no other option. They found their dream venue in Connemara Sands Hotel in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way. "Dean and Kathy, the owners of the Connemara Sands Hotel were very accommodating and allowed us to erect the marquee there."

The bride crafted their dreamy wedding aesthetic through Instagram and Pinterest hunting. "I always new it would be classic and traditional with some stylish twists with fun, country chic with the wilder flowers. My mum and dad are both very creative and have a great influence over me. We worked together on it, Ben nodded along!"

For the couple, spending their special day surrounded by their loved ones was the absolute highlight. "Having our grandparents there, my nana and grander and Ben’s grandma was really lucky and special for us. My friend Aza who flew from Mexico to be there – we met when she came to our school in transition year for the year to improve her English."

Their top priority for their celebration was throwing a big party and showing their nearest and dearest a great time.

Positioned on Mannin Bay, and cradled by the Twelve Bens mountain range, their venue boasted breathtaking views. Their marquee reception styling included a subtle coastal edge with light blue napkins and starfish napkin holders.

The bride's friend Alex created beautiful bespoke designs of her family home in Ballyconneely for their invites and the table numbers along with their favourite things.

Megan and Ben's cherry-bedecked Lambeth buttercream wedding cakes were a thing of beauty. It's one of the undeniably hottest cake trends right now.

After poring over the details of their divine day, we were curious to know what Megan's top wedding planning tip was. "Do as much as you can as far in advance as you can, the time just flies by. On the day of the wedding just take it all in your stride and take it all in, whatever happens happens, enjoy it."

Ben and Megan took to the dancefloor for their first dance as Mr and Mrs to She Will Be Loved by Maroon 5.

The couple jetted off to Morocco for a week for their honeymoon. "We flew to Agadir and then transferred 45 mins to a beautiful beach village called Taghazout and stayed in a gorgeous all inclusive hotel to just chill by the pool, much needed!"

Megan and Ben, a huge congratulations from all of us at One Fab Day. A very special thank you to Victoria McGarry for sharing today's stunning celebration with us, you can see more images in the gallery below.
